Winter Time Ice Cream Cake

Winter Ice Cream Cake

I first made this recipe for some of my vegan friends, so oreos and ice cream can be replaced with Newman's Dairy-free Newman-Os and Soy Ice cream

Sandwich cookies, like oreos
Vegetable Oil
Peppermint extract
Dark Chocolate chips/(carob chips for vegan)
Vanilla Ice Cream

To make the pie you will need a spring-form pan - spray it with non stick spray.

In a food processor blend 2 tbs of veggie oil (I use Earth Balance)  with a 1/8th tsp peppermint extract, and about 20-25 sandwich cookies. When it is a nice mealy texture press into the bottom of the spring-form pan. It should be about a half inch thick.

In the food processor combine at least 3 cups ice cream, about 1 cup chocolate chips and 1 tsp of peppermint extract. Blend until chips have broken down into small pieces. Pour on top of the cookie crust, and allow to sit in freezer for at least an hour (overnight is best)

Audrey's superbomb focaccia bread

Well, this is a spin on an old recipe.

makes about 16 large servings

4.5 - 5 cups flour
1 large onion Chopped
1 tbs olive oil
1 tsp dried and crumbled rosemary
1/2 tsp garlic powder
pinch dried basil
1 package active dry yeast
2 cups warm water (120 - 130 degrees F)
cornmeal
more olive oil
more dried rosemary
garlic salt

DIRECTIONS!!!

In large bowl mix 2 cups flour with onion and 1 tbs olive oil. Then add 1 tsp rosemary, salt and yeast. Add warm water, and beat with electric mixer on low for two minutes, then on medium speed for another minute or so.

Stir in remaining flour with wooden spoon one cup at a time, until dough is easy to handle (you may not need the whole five cups, but I find at high elevation it helps to use all five.)

turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and Knead for 10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.

coat a large bowl with spray cooking oil and place dough in it, turn the dough so that the exterior of dough has a light coating of oil. Cover and let rise 1.5 hours or until double.

Spray a cookie sheet with cooking spray, and sprinkle lightly with corn meal. Punch down dough and then press into pan, cover and let rise for about 30 minutes, or until double.

Heat oven to 400 degrees F. press dough into the edges of the pan, brush lightly with oil and sprinkle top with rosemary and garlic salt. Bake 30 -35 minutes

Hooray for bread!

Pixel Pipe

So that last post was from my iphone, i was trying to learn how to use this app called pixel pipe which transfers your image to your blog...super easy but the formatting came out real strange.

Obama won. I felt like it wasnt even real. I was waiting for Fox news to come on and say - our early projection puts McCain as the front runner. Months later it is taken to the supreme court.....strange acidic visions of the 2000 election swirled in my head. But winning by over 100 electoral votes....i am not concerned. Yay!

I did nothing all weekend

...and i feel amazing about it. Sometimes it just feels delightful to be a homebody. The time shifted for day light savings. Silly. I took some photos, and drank some whiskey, but I never could really catch a buzz. It has been a long time since I have felt drunk...maybe since burning man. I posted pictures of Scooby and the Gang on my flickr....how did I not get pictures of shaggy?!

My blog isnt a spam blog anymore!!

So I was blocked from updating my blog for several days because they thought I was generating spam with it. Like I even know how?! Today it is snowing and I am working on stuff for the sheppard gallery. Yay! At least I am listening to good music.

Also, I am looking at grad schools for art - I think I have the potential, although it is certainly not reflected here - I am an excellent writer and thoughtful artist. I am constantly thinking of the world around me and how I could interpret the environment I am submerged in to someone a million miles away. Is place transferable/translatable/relatable/relevant?

Displaced Substitution

trellis, originally uploaded by audrexlox.

I was going through some photos from a group exhibition over the summer, I forgot how much I enjoyed putting this show together.

How delightful

Well we spent the weekend out in grass valley/nevada city. We played in the rain with the dog. I took a total of like six pictures, and they were all while we were in the hotel room. So much for trying to get some work done. Now we are cooking a quaint dinner, in our quaint house. I love reno sometimes, but sometimes I hate it... What is my incentive to stay here?

PS The rain is amazing, I want it to rain all the time.

I'll just post it.

I really forgot how much I loved my "LIVE FROM EARTH" series. They were fun, and now that I am working digitally I bet the would be like a million more times fun to create!!! Here is the link to the series - Perhaps if I did it again it would be helpful to buy a 10-22 mm lens as shown here!

I am the worst

I waste my time on the internet all day long, including now, and cannot find the goddamn motivation to wrtie a measly four page paper. Perhaps if it was a topic I was slightly interested I may be able to get a few words down - No. The philosophies of the Enlightened thinkers does not entertain me. I thought it was interesting, but that was fleeting.

Go look at my flickr I put up more stuff.

construction lamp....spooky!

construction lamp....spooky!, originally uploaded by audrexlox.

I don't know why I am so drawn to this image, just am.

Flickr and Such...

Ok, so I finally got all of my Burning man images up on my flickr site - go check it out! Further more I posted some OLD stuff too...explore the photo sets.

A thought on our avian friends...

So birds have magnets behind their eyes that work as a geo-magnetic-positioning system. These magnets can sense the magnetic field around the earth. We, as humans, have began to seriously interfere with system...is that why birds are less migratory? Think about it...the geese in Reno don't exactly fly south - but that could be because of global and such.

Eeee!!!! (girlish squeal!!!)

So now, my WHOLE LIFE is coordinated to update online and let everybody know about it. I rigged my blog and my flickr to send out a tweet on twitter everytime I update either one of them. Creepy? Perhaps - I think it is a step towards more exposure....we will have to see.

cheers.
